  • rritz2001 -- I've posted a 2nd pic of this pup to the ''gone'' album he is in with some of your words. I had to condense your comments some because the 'caption' holds a limited amount of text. Thank you for your attention to this pup -- you may very well be the only person that really gave this dog any real attention and affection in his entire life!

  • In the 7 months I have been visiting the MAS (on an almost daily basis), there have been a handful of "special&quo t; dogs who have really touched me. Luckily, most have ended up finding a home (including mine). However, there have been 3 who didn't make it - all PTS as a result of the arbitrary way the MAS is run. The latest is a 7 month old sheperd mix pup (110596) who was PTS after only 8 days in adoption. He was a very sweet, very gentle soul who also happened to be shy. I would stand in front of his cage and put my fingers through the wire and call to him. He would lay there, wagging his tail, and slowly crawl over to me. He would bury his head in my hands, wanting only to be rubbed and petted. He would take his paws and place them in my fingers, trying to pull them through the wire to him - he wanted so much to be held. While many puppies are full of energy and a bit hyper - he was a very laid back and loving pup. All he wanted was some loving. He would have made someone a wonderful companion for many years. But instead, he was pulled and killed. And for what reason? I can only hope that when a new director is finally hired, he/she will clean house of the current staff and bring in people and policies that will help these poor animals stand a fighting chance of surviving. But in the meantime, countless more dogs and pups will be killed, with no logical rationale given or applied to the taking of their lives. And I find myself once again mourning over such a needless loss. I shall hug all 5 of my "furry children" very tightly when I arrive home tonight.
